Michelle Oveta Johnson

February 12, 1955 – June 4, 2023

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, Michelle “Mickey” Johnson, of Silver Spring Maryland, passed away peacefully in her sleep after having fought the good fight following a three-year bout with cancer. Michelle was born in Washington D.C., but grew up in her family home in Cheverly, Maryland. She graduated from Fisk University in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in business management and earned an MBA in Personnel and Industrial Relations at the University of Maryland, College Park. Over the next 40 years she worked as a Human Resource Manager at Prime Computer, Lockheed, Computer Sciences Corporation, Fannie Mae and Parsons Corporation. She became an expert in the field of Human Resources and was well respected by her co-workers. Her greatest strengths included the compassion, care, and kindness she demonstrated in balancing her responsibilities to management and employees.

In 1986, Michelle was inducted as a member of Alpha Kapa Alpha Sorority, Xi Zeta Omega Chapter, where she continued as an active member up until her passing.

Michelle was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and aunt. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Hill, her mother, Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Hill, her brother, Leo “Dandy” Hill Jr,, and her father In law, Henderson Andrew Johnson III.

Michelle is survived by her sister, Patrice Hill Taylor, her husband of 38 years, Gregory Paul Johnson, her son Brandon Johnson, her daughter-in-law, Kassandra Johnson, her daughter, Devon Johnson, her grandson, Eli Johnson, her granddaughter, Aminah Johnson, and numerous friends and colleagues who will miss her dearly.
