June Alicia Brice, the youngest child of U.S. Army Captain Elijah and Maggie McInham Reynolds, was born on June 9, 1928, in Washington, D.C. She passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024. She was the youngest of six siblings, all of whom preceded her in death. June was predeceased by her beloved husband, Phillip Matthew Brice. Despite these losses, June remained a pillar of strength and resilience for her family and community.
June grew up in Washington, D.C., where she attended public schools and graduated from Dunbar High School. She held various positions with the Washington D.C. government before transitioning to a long career with the Federal Government at the USAID, where she eventually retired. There, she earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and supervisors alike.
She was a member of the Reid Temple Golden Reid Ministry and a devoted, dedicated member of the Naomi Chapter No. 9 Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation, District of Columbia. Even through health challenges, her commitment to these organizations was evident in her willingness to serve, always striving to make a positive impact.
June was also especially supportive of the growth and development of children and young adults. Her strong values about community, family, and faith in God were the cornerstones of her life. She instilled these values in her children and grandchildren, always emphasizing the importance of education and spiritual growth.
June loved to cook, decorate, and gather the family around for holidays and celebrations. Her home was filled with warmth and hospitality, where everyone felt welcomed and loved. She cherished these moments, creating lasting memories that her family would hold dear forever.
June loved the Lord and cultivated a generous spirit, always committed to helping others whenever she perceived a need or injustice. She will be remembered for her compassion and empathy that touched many lives.
June enjoyed traveling, shopping, and exploring new places. She particularly loved meeting new people, sharing experiences, and learning about different cultures. Her larger-than-life personality and zest for life were infectious and uniquely entertaining.
She leaves behind her daughter, Lucinda M. (Duffy) Nobles, and her sons, Alfonso Pollard and Michael (Shamai) Jones. She is also remembered fondly by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
June's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and guide her family and all who knew her.
