Carlos Lopez

Carlos Lopez Gonzalez, de 79 años, se unió a nuestro Padre celestial el miércoles 15 de febrero de 2023. Es precedido en la muerte por su padre, Lázaro Lopez; su madre, Rosenda Gonzalez; sus hermanas , Angelina Lopez, Juana Lopez y Concession Lopez y sus hermanos Augusto Lopez, Oscar Lopez, Tomas Lopez y Henrique Lopez.

Carlos nació el 25 de noviembre de 1943 en Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala. Era el más joven de la familia a quien llamaban con afecto “Calin.” A los 20 años, al crecer en estatura y edad, emigró a los Estados Unidos. Se estableció en Washington, DC, en 1968, lugar donde orgullosamente entabló sus raíces. Siendo un hombre callado, encantador y con una elegancia atractiva, conoció a la bella Rosa Quinteros durante estos primeros años y se enamoraron. Se casaron en el verano del 15 de julio de 1978 y juntos criaron a dos bellas hijas, Mirna “Lupi” Quinteros-Grady, Rocio Emperatriz Quinteros Tyler y su tocayo y único hijo Carlos Augusto Lopez de quien sentía mucho orgullo.

Carlos siempre fue un hombre considerado y de mucha compasión. Tanto, que hasta en su “hobby” más querido, la jardinería, alimentaba a todas las plantas y flores con sus palabras de amor. Las cultivaba para que se convirtieran en bellas y delicadas obras de amor puro, para ser admiradas en su evolución completa. Atento de naturaleza, expresaba sus talentos en la cocina creando deliciosos banquetes para aquellos que lo amaban, quienes se beneficiaban de sus destrezas culinarias. Carlos aprendió a cocinar de su madre y perfeccionó sus destrezas en los numerosos restaurantes de Washington, DC, donde logró el estatus de chef. Su forma sencilla de interpretar platos como carne asada, ceviche, paella y flan dejaban a todos los que tenían la dicha de probar sus platos satisfechos y agradecidos. Continuó trabajando en la industria culinaria como chef hasta su jubilación en el 2012.

Carlos era un hombre de familia. Estaba enamorado de sus nietos Antonio Tyler, Esperanza Tyler, Isabella Grady, Santana Grady, Eliza Mar Lopez y Andrés Augusto Lopez, quienes en sus ojos eran los niños perfectos que no podían hacer el mal. Compartía sus consejos amorosamente y de una forma tranquila con sus yernos Antonio Tyler y Darryl Grady y su nuera Debbie Diez. Las vacaciones familiares y las celebraciones en días festivos lo hacían sonreír porque era durante estos momentos que él derramaba el increíble amor que sentía hacia su familia en forma de abrazos y masajes con sus manos curativas.

Carlos adoraba a su esposa, Rosa Quinteros, a quien siempre trataba de complacer. Expresaba su amor por ella en forma de poemas personales muy especiales dirigidos solamente a ella. Su espíritu vulnerable era expresado en palabras escritas que literalmente saltaban de las páginas y abrazaban el corazón y el espíritu de ella. Dios les permitió celebrar 45 años de santo matrimonio donde sintieron amor eterno basado en la verdad, honestidad y sacrificio. Este amor fue y siempre será celebrado y elogiado.

Carlos deja un legado arraigado en una fortaleza callada, sonrisa delicada, palabras de ánimo para aquellos que más lo necesitaban, comida deleitable, disfraces de Santa, abrazos protectores para sus hijos y nietos y una inconfundible devoción hacia su esposa.

Él será extrañado y su legado será solidificado por sus hijos y nietos.

Carlos Lopez Gonzalez, age 79, joined his heavenly Father on Wednesday February 15th, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Lazaro Lopez; his mother, Rosenda Gonzalez; his sisters’, Angelina Lopez, Juana Lopez and Concession Lopez and his brothers’ Augusto Lopez, Oscar Lopez, Tomas Lopez and Henrique Lopez.

Carlos was born on November 25th, 1943 in Guatemala City, Guatemala and was affectionately “Calin,” the youngest of his family. At age 20, as Carlos grew in age and stature, he migrated to the US and settled in Washington, D.C. in 1968 where he solidified his proud Washingtonian roots. Being the quiet yet suave and debonair man that made Carlos so appealing he met the beautiful Rosa Quinteros during these early years and swept her off her feet. They were married in the summer of July 15th, 1978 and together raised two lovely daughters, Mirna “Lupi” Quinteros-Grady, Rocio Emperatriz Quinteros Tyler and name-sake Carlos Augusto Lopez, his only son who he was so proud of.

Carlos was a deeply thoughtful and compassionate soul. So much, that even in one of his most loved hobbies, gardening, he would speak words of nourishment and love to all plants and flowers. He would cultivate them to rise up and become beautiful delicate works of pure love, to admire in their full evolution. His thoughtful nature was often expressed in how he created such amazing meals in the kitchen where those he loved, especially, benefited from his culinary talents. Learning how to cook from his mother, Carlos honed his skills in many D.C restaurants where he earned chef status. His simple yet special spins on dishes like carne asada, ceviche, paella and flan left all those lucky enough to experience these dishes wholly fulfilled and grateful. As a chef, Carlos continued to work in the Food Industry until his retirement in 2012.

Carlos was an amazing family man. He was absolutely head over heels in love with his grandchildren Antonio Tyler, Esperanza Tyler, Isabella Grady, Santana Grady, Eliza Mar Lopez and Andrés Augusto Lopez who, in his eyes, were the perfect children who could do no wrong. His quiet words of advice often shared in one-on-one conversations with his children in-laws Antonio Tyler, Darryl Grady and Debbie Diez were always cloaked in love and wisdom. Family vacations and holiday gatherings always made Carlos smile because it was during those times that he would be able to shower his family with his all-consuming love with his hugs and awesome massages with his healing hands!

Carlos absolutely adored his bride. Rosa Quinteros was the apple of his eye and there wasn’t anything that he would do for his lovely wife. His love for her was often expressed in his special and personal poems that he wrote for her ears and heart only. In these poems his vulnerable spirit was expressed in words that literally jumped off the page, hugging her heart and soul. God allowed them to celebrate 45 devoted years of marriage to each other where they experienced everlasting love that was based on truth, honesty and sacrifice. Their love was and is to always be commended and celebrated.

Carlos leaves behind a legacy rooted in quiet strength, soft smiles, pointed words of encouragement to those who needed it most, delectable food, lighthearted Santa Claus outfits, protective hugs to his children and grandchildren and an unmistakable devotion to his wife.

While he will be missed, his legacy is solidified by his children and grandchildren.
