Roger Moore, 74, passed away at Bruns House in Alamo on August 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia, and his son, Jason.
Roger was born in Berkeley and subsequently moved to Orinda. He graduated from Acalanes High School in 1955. He served Proudly in the United States Naval Reserves for 8 years.
Roger was a Senior Scientific Associate at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory from 1956 until his formal retirement in 1996. However, he continued to work at the Lab until recently.
A resident of Brentwood since 1975, Roger served as a Commissioner on the Brentwood Planning Board from 1977-1980. He was elected to the City Council in 1980. Roger was appointed Mayor of Brentwood in 1982. He was also a member of the Eastern Contra County Authority (Tri Delta Transit) Board from 1986-1988. Roger was a member of the Brentwood branch of SIRS.
Roger was a self made man. A problem solver, he advised many who came to him for his guidance.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul, mother, Florence and step-mother, Hilja. In addition to this wife and son, he is survived by nephews Joshua and Spencer Jerome, brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Shellie Jerome and many friends and colleagues.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held at 10:30am on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Shadow Lakes Golf Club, 401 West Country Club Drive, Brentwood, CA
