Our beloved Angelo passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 30, 2022 at Kaiser in Antioch. He was born on February 20, 1936 in San Francisco California to Ernest and Eleanor Gaggero. In San Francisco Angelo graduated from Mission High School. There he met and married his high school sweetheart Beverly Doyle.
Soon after they moved to Pacifica and started a family. He was the loving father to Angelo Gaggero Jr., Cheryl Taylor, Paula Davis and Denise Gaggero. In the workplace Angelo was a leader, very dependable and a hard worker. He worked for Sunset Scavenger, Lindauer sawdust company as a teamster, Cal Cargo and San Francisco Door. After residing in Pacifica for 40 years he retired to Plymouth in Amador County. He couldn’t stay retire for long and was employed as a bus driver with the Amador County Unified School District. He continued to drive a school bus for Liberty Union High School District when he moved to Brentwood.
He was a man who cared about his community and the families in it. He made long lasting friendships and was beloved by many. During his Pacifica days he was a dedicated volunteer. Angelo was a loyal and active member of the Pacifica Moose Lodge for thirty-nine years. The Moose Lodge was his second home and the members his family. His first community service began in 1967 as a volunteer coach with Pacifica Little League Baseball program. Twenty-eight years later his commitment was as strong as the first day.
Angelo was an active supporter of Bay Area Special Olympics. He coached track and field events for twelve years. His drive to teach and help others never stopped. His greatest reward was seeing all their accomplishments. He later started San Francisco’s Special Olympics softball program. He coached for five years and he proudly took the first San Francisco team to the California State games. In 1976 Angelo initiated a Pacifica Moose Lodge fundraiser for Special Olympics and was honored to be the chairperson. Over 65,000 dollars was raised in twelve years.
Angelos's love of sports took him from softball to football and coached at various age levels including the Pacifica Dolphins. Away from sports he also served as president of the Oceana High School Booster Club. From 1981-1985 he was a member of the Pacifica Parks, Beaches, and Recreation Commission. He was honored to coordinate the annual breakfast of champions at the Moose Lodge to give awards for outstanding Pacifica athletes. Angelo was a great role model for many youths in Pacifica. His dedication to his community was like no other.
Angelo is survived by his daughter Denise Gaggero, his grandchildren Nicole and Danielle Gaggero, Jonathon Davis, Tiffany Taylor, great-grandchildren Stormy and Damion Taylor, Daniel Long II, Nathan and Hailey Long, Joseph Zawaideh, Zaina and Tristen Ayyoub. Angelo was preceded by his parents Ernest and Elenore Gaggero, his loving wife Beverly of 56 years, son Angelo Gaggero Jr., daughters Cheryl Taylor and Paula Davis. A Celebration of Angelo’s Life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Pacifica Moose Lodge, 776 Bradford Way Pacifica. Telephone: (650} 355-1540.
