Paul Leonard Stuart, 83, of Gig Harbor, peacefully passed away on September 28, 2024. Born on May 20, 1941, in Sanford, Florida, to George and Winona Stuart, Paul spent most of his early years in Florida before enlisting in the United States Air Force in June 1960. He served proudly for 21 years, including a tour in Vietnam, and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant.
While stationed in the Netherlands, Paul met his future wife, Willy Margaretha Goedhart. They married on June 15, 1963, and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Together, they proudly raised four children, filling their years with travel, adventures, and cherished memories.
Paul’s kind and attentive nature, along with his sense of humor, naturally drew people to him. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family, often taking on two jobs to support their interests and endeavors. Paul enjoyed a range of hobbies, such as flying, scuba diving, and football, fondly reminiscing about his high school playing days. He also had a passion for classic cars, especially his red 1964 Thunderbird convertible. This adoration was charmingly symbolized by a cast iron model on the windowsill beside his chair where, where he would sit with his beloved cat Mickey, enjoying the sight of birds and airplanes flying by.
Paul is survived by his wife, Willy; son, Paul Jr. (Wendy); daughters, Donna Shell (Kevin Bolin) and Kea Zimmerman (Patrick); and son, Marc. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Heather Shell (Michael Quick), Lindsey Smith (Garrett), Ryan Stuart (Melissa), Jacob and Ethan Zimmerman, Dustin and Shawn Stuart; three great-grandchildren: Callen and Adler Quick, and Beau Smith; and his sisters, Shirley Habermehl and Judy Yorkilous.
