Mary Lou Addy

Mary Lou Addy, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 77, of Silverdale passed away quietly on March 26, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 15, 1936 in Fargo, North Dakota and grew up in McMillan, Washington. Mary Lou graduated from Sumner High School in 1954 and later in her life, went back to Olympic College in Bremerton to expand her education and horizons.

Mary Lou met her future husband Tom Addy at a church social and they were married August 28, 1954 in Tacoma, Washington. Tom was accepted into the apprenticeship program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton so they moved from Tacoma to start their married life and family.

Her passion for knowledge and dedication to excellence served her well in her working career. In her lifetime she went from a Bank Teller to Chairing the Board of Directors at the Kitsap Credit Union. She also had many co-workers and friends in the local automobile industry and they all knew that they could count on her for anything. Mary Lou's quick wit and work ethic were well known among her constituents.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Order of the Eastern Star, being a past Grand Representative to Bolivia, past Worthy Matron of her chapter and most recently a Rainbow Mother. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi and Credit Professionals International, serving as a past international president. There are many more honors and accolades that Mom had bestowed upon her but, sadly, you don't think to write them all down when you are attending the functions or hearing about them. You do, however, have all the memories of those times when we were there to support and celebrate with her.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Jeannie (Ron) Easley, Rich Addy, Russ (Kim) Addy, and Todd (Chrissy) Addy; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her and she was one ferocious Mother Bear. If it was within her power to give, she gave unconditionally.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church at 9256 Nels Nelson Road in Silverdale at noon on April 13, with a viewing at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park following the service.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Harrison Hospitals, Harborview medical Center, and all the kind, caring and compassionate professionals that helped care for our mother during her illness.
