John was born on December 2, 1963, to his parents John E. Sutton Sr. and Jimmie Ruth (Lincoln) Sutton, John married Brenda (Brassard) on October 16, 1988, and was a loving and devoted husband. Together they are raising two sons, Jackson Cody Sutton and Graham Connor Sutton. His family was his whole world.
John was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX. He graduated Haltom High School in 1982. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy in April of 1983. He was a proud sailor who served as a Missile Technician aboard nuclear submarines, ultimately reaching the rank of Master Chief (E9). He retired honorably in 2010 after serving his country for 27 ½ years. He continued to work within the Navy community serving in Emergency Management for Navy Region Northwest until his passing. His career spanned many commands and duty stations. He was a great leader, mentor and friend to many. His legacy lives on in the careers of the sailors and colleagues he served with and inspired.
He was an avid sports fan; he was proud to be counted as a “12” cheering on the Seattle Seahawks with friends at every home game. He was also a fan of the Seattle Mariners and NASCAR. His favorite hobbies included anything Chevrolet Camaro related. Spending time with his oldest son and his son's friends rebuilding cars was a passion. He was also a member of several Camaro clubs in the Western Washington area making a lot of friends he and Brenda considered as close as family along the way. He was well liked in the car community and will be missed by many.
John is survived by his wife, Brenda, sons Jackson Cody and Graham Connor Sutton, his two sisters Theresa Sutton and fiancé Mark of Forney, TX, Michelle Gall of Fort Worth, TX, his brother Mark Sutton and wife Amy of Saginaw, TX, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, his uncle James Lincoln of San Antonio, TX, and aunt Phyllis Sutton of Saginaw, TX long with numerous cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents John and Jimmie Sutton, grandparents Guy and Mandy Sutton, grandparents James and Mary Lincoln, great nephew Corbin Maxwell Ulibarri and nephew Brody Travis Sutton.
Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on
Monday, November 1, 2021 at 10:30 am.
The cemetery is located at 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA.
A celebration of life will also be held at the US Naval Undersea Museum located at
1 Garnett Way, Keyport, WA on November 5, 2021 from 1:00 – 3:00.
