David was born January 19, 1950 to Donald Earl and Muriel K. Finley in Sandpoint Idaho. He joined the Army at the age of 17. He served in Vietnam, where he was wounded at the age of 19 and returned to the States. He received a Purple Heart and Meritorious Service Award.
At a young age he married Mary Fuller and she became the wonderful mother to his three children (Shiela, Angela, and Joshua) whom he loved very much. He became a welder at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard where he worked until his disability ended his career.
David met Joyce in 1984, she had six children (Christine, Shonn, Bryan, Angela, Elayn, and Karin) they were married in three weeks and were together for almost 39 years. He was a wonderful husband and father to all nine of their children. They loved the Seahawks, dancing, camping, fishing, and the great outdoors.
In 2010 David was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. He spent the last 5 years of his life with Joyce by his side in the Washington Veteran’s Home Retsil where he received exceptional loving care by the staff.
