Barbara J. Zielinski, 87 passed away peacefully Friday April 27, 2012 at Pine Heights Nursing Home. She was born in Marlboro, VT January 1, 1925 daughter of Arthur Lawrence and Irene “Maude” (Wilkins) Sherman. Barbara had grown up in the West River Valley having lived in Londonderry (where she attended schools), Bellows Falls, Townshend, Brattleboro and was a former resident of Vernon.
She had worked at Latchis Hotel in Brattleboro, Templeton Furniture in Brattleboro, H. Margolin Co. Pocketbook factory in Bellows Falls and also H. Margolin Co. in Brattleboro. She also worked at AMP Keyboard Factory. In her later years she worked at Ray’s Restaurant in Brattleboro. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW of Brattleboro. Barbara was devoted to her family and some of her favorite times were spent with get –togethers with her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to country music and she loved her pet cats and dogs.
Barbara is survived by her son Wayne Winot and his wife Eloise of Brookline, Three Grand Children; Michael Winot and his wife Heidi of Brookline, Douglas Winot of Townshend and Kimberly Gouger and her husband Christopher of Newfane; Four Great Grandchildren, Thacher, Tanner, Nicole and Rebekah Winot; two step great grandchildren, Tabitha and Tucker Bumps; her sister in law, Gale Sherman and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her beloved grandson, David Winot, her Brother Elmer “Pete” Sherman and her step sister Irene Winot Ferris.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Ker-Westerlund Funeral Home, 57 high St. Brattleboro. Graveside services and interment will take place on Wednesday, May 2,2012_at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bellows Falls, VT. The Very Reverend Richard O’Donnell V.F. Pastor St. Michael Roman Catholic Church Will officiate.
