Margaret Wilmot Page

When 94 years is not enough, you know that someone was extraordinarily loved.

On Sunday, November 13th, with her loving son by her side, Margaret (Maggie) Page left us to reunite with her husband, daughter, granddaughter, and other loved ones.

The eldest daughter of Annie Ross (Bishop) Plewes and Dr. David Franklin Plewes, Maggie grew up in Brantford with her sisters Jean and Ann. She was a graduate of Brantford Collegiate Institute, and the University of Toronto. While at U of T, she met the love of her life (and life-long cribbage partner), William E. Page, with whom she was to spend 70 years of wedded bliss.

Prior to starting her family, Maggie worked as a primary school teacher. Four children later, she was still known for her unyielding zest for life. Maggie was in awe of the world for all its little marvels: snow-speckled cardinals, a heart-stirring melody, or a five o'clock scotch. She taught us all to appreciate life for all of its triumphs and challenges.

Maggie's poise, strength, and compassion served as the pillar upholding her family and community, as well as an example for us all to live by. In 1982, she took on the role of Program Coordinator at Participation House, where she went on to serve as President later that same year.

Maggie was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William E. Page (2022); daughter Judy (1987); granddaughter Becky (1988); and sisters Jean (2001) and Ann (1987).

Left to mourn are her children Bill (Judy Wong Page), Katie (John Witt), Liz (Luis Almeida); grandchildren Jay Page (Alexandria), Laura Almeida, Sarah Almeida, Jillian Page, Jennifer Page, and Olivia Almeida; and surrogate family members Ted, Elizabeth, Tessa, Anne, and Emma Paling, as well as Monique Goold and Kathy Hurst. Her memory will be forever cherished by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Whether referred to as Frau, Mom, Grandma, Auntie Marg or Aunt Maggie, she was the matriarch of a lively and loving family. She was happiest when surrounded by her people...family and friends alike.

The family extends its sincere thanks to the dedicated and caring staff of the Brant Community Healthcare System, particularly those on C7 for easing her to the end.

Cremation has taken place.

As per her wishes for no formal ceremony, the family invites you to celebrate Margaret’s life at the Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home Carriage House (96 West St., Brantford) on Friday, November 18, 2022 any time between 4-8 p.m.
