Kate was born August 2, 1954, in Quincy, Mass. to the late Margaret and Denis Fox. The only daughter of her Canadian-born parents, Kate is survived by her brothers Patrick Fox (Mary Kay) of Sterling, Mass., and Denis Fox (Valerie) of Lincoln, Mass. She is a graduate of Archbishop Williams Highschool and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Massachusetts.
Kate married her lifelong love, Gerard “Gerry” Brennan on April 8, 1978, in Quincy. The couple was a month shy of celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary. Kate and Gerry were residents of Massachusetts until relocating to Brandon, Fla. in 1996. Four children were born of their union.
Kate was a lifelong educator and retired from her position as a sixth-grade teacher at Randall Middle School in Lithia, Fla. in 2017. She specialized in language arts and history and made lasting friendships during her time as a teacher.
Of her many interests, Kate most enjoyed reading a good book, relaxing in the Florida sun, and working on a new puzzle. She loved musical theater and enjoyed seeing live performances with her family. She was creative and crafty and could make just about anything with her sewing machine. She loved to shop and had a real knack for decorating. Often updating rooms in her home, much to her husband’s chagrin. Kate cherished being a mother, and then, a Gigi to her five grandchildren.
Along with her husband and brothers, Kate is survived by her children, Meghan Brennan of Fairfax, Va., Caitlin (Robert) Prior of Chantilly, Va., Christopher (Kasey) Brennan of Valrico, Fla., and Molly (David) Brennan-Stamm of Winter Spring, Fla., as well as her grandchildren Jack Prior, Alex Prior, Liza Prior, Birdie Brennan, and Lane Brennan. She also will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday March 17, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Stowers Funeral Home in Brandon, Fla. A Catholic funeral mass will take place on Monday March 18, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, Fla. Internment will occur privately at a later date.
