Janet Dianne Cooke (Etchison) died of pancreatic cancer on December 26, 2022 at the age of 79 years, surrounded by her loving family. Janet, better known as Dianne, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on November 6, 1943, the first child of Truman L. Etchison and Maxine Coggeshall Etchison.
In recent years, Dianne led a vibrant life filled with friends, arts and crafts, and her family. Her numerous friends and loved ones knew Dianne to be warm, witty, resilient, strong-willed – often with a mischievous wink of an eye. She was the first to show up at a friend’s doorstep in a time of need. Ever the generous soul and person of faith, Dianne volunteered at St Vincent de Paul food pantry in Valrico, FL, where for over a decade she led the weekly efforts to provide emergency food to those in need.
Dianne was preceded in death by husband Edward C. Cooke and brother Larry T. Etchison. She is survived by daughters Cricket Wagner (husband Michael) and Susan Bartlett (husband Dan), and half-brother Richard Etchison (wife Debbie); 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; as well as nephew Stacy Etchison and nieces Nancey Cummings and Tracey Etchison.
Friends and family are welcomed to come and pay their respects on Monday January 2, 2023 from 4-6 p.m. at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home in Brandon, FL.
All are invited to congregate to remember Dianne at a memorial service to be held Tuesday January 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL. The service will be followed by a burial and reception at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, open to all.
