James (Jim) A. Grimsley Jr., 78 formerly of Lake City, Florida passed away on September 28, 2022. He was born on September 14, 1944 in Lake City, Florida to the late Mary and James A. Grimsley Sr. Jim left home as teenager and served proudly in the United States Navy, including during the Vietnam War, until being honorably discharged in January 1968.
Jim worked at AT&T for 20+ years as a Telephone Installer/Repairman. After leaving AT&T he followed his passion for helping local business by opening Gateway Communications of Lake City, FL before finally retiring in 2005. After learning retirement wasn’t for him, he found a new passion as a Poker Dealer & Pit Boss for Hamilton Jai Alai until late 2011. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling on the Monday Night Mavericks league where he also served as President of the league for nearly 20 years. In addition to bowling you could always find him at Bob Evans eating breakfast (even for dinner), catching up with old friends around Lake City or watching an old Western or Sci Fi show from his favorite recliner.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Linda Grimsley; sons, James (Christina) Grimsley, Brian Grimsley; grandchildren, Koral Grimsley, Hayden Grimsley, Tyler Grimsley, Caleb Grimsley; siblings, Wayne (Judy) Grimsley, Beth (Scott) Krajewski; as well as many extended family members and long time friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Gene (Laura) Grimsley and sister-in-law Jane Kaufman.
Family and Friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held at 11am on Monday, November 7, 2022, Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102 Avenue Bushnell, Florida 33513.
