Henry Hubert King Jr, 89, of Dover Florida passed away on April 10, 2024. Henry was born in Brandon Florida on April 7, 1935, to Mary Monteen and Henry Hubert King Sr. Henry graduated from Brandon High School in 1953.
Henry met his wife, Sylvia, in the first grade and they were married for 67 ½ years before her passing in 2022. He joined the United States Coast Guard April 1954 and was honorably discharged March 1958. Upon his return home, Henry became employed with Tampa Electric in February 1958 and retired after 37 years. He was recognized by Tampa Electric for being one of four that created the safety department that is now called the Tampa Electric Skills Training Center, now trademarked as Power Pros.
Henry and Sylvia spent every summer seeing different parts of our country as well as many places abroad. He enjoyed spending time in the Georgia mountains and later in life he enjoyed going to classic car shows in his 1940 Ford.
Henry was a member of the Olin S. Wright Masonic Lodge. He was a 50 year plus member of the First Baptist Church of Dover as well as a recent member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Henry is predeceased by his mother, Mary Gordon and his father, Henry King Sr. He is survived by his sons, Randall (Theresa) King, Todd King, and Scott (Lydia) King; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Henry will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Dover, 3223 Gallagher Road, Dover, Florida officiated by Pastor Joe Bowles. Interment to follow in Dover Cemetery, Dover, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in Henry’s name to the Good Shephard Hospice of Lakeland, Florida.
