Grace Louise (Altobelli) Greene, 70, became an Angel in heaven, way too soon, joining our Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 8th. “Amazing Grace”, as her friends called her, was born on July 7, 1947 in Dudley, Pa. She was the youngest of 5 children born to Italian immigrants. Her parents owned Tom’s Tavern, a local family restaurant. While her parents were busy making a good life for their family, Grace’s older sister Madeline gladly took the role of mother and helped raise her youngest sibling. Grace had many fond stories to share of the mischief created by her and her siblings while growing up in Pennsylvania. In 1965, she graduated from Tussey Mountain High School and moved to Washington, DC to work for the Federal Government. In 1980, she married Donald Greene, Sr. and they moved to Dale City, Virginia. Grace retired from Naval Air Systems Command as a Public Affairs Specialist where she made many life-long friends. Most recently, she worked for the Ft Belvoir commissary where her co-workers were like family. Always a devoted wife, she left the commissary in June of 2017 to become a full-time caregiver for her husband. In March of this year, she relocated to Florida to undergo therapy near her daughter Lisa. Living in Florida was Grace’s longtime dream. She happily spent her last days recovering in the Florida sunshine with her grandkids, whom she adored. Grace leaves behind a legacy of loving friends and family who cherish her memory, including her loving husband, Donald, Sr of Dale City, Va, her sister Madeline Ryan of Frederick, MD, her devoted daughter Lisa & son-in-law Wayne, grandchildren: Taylor, Donovan and Carissa (who were the light of her life!); Three stepdaughters: Klara Greene-Eaton, (Rickey), Charlemaine Randolph (Robert) and Eilean Greene and numerous grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by a host of family, including her treasured nieces and nephews, Billy Ryan (Judy), John Fazekas, Frank Altobelli (Kathryn), Mark Altobelli (Kim), Denise Altobelli (Bill), David Altobelli (Desma), Diane Altobelli, Lori Altobelli, Paul Altobelli, and many loving great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Domenica (Rapiti) Altobelli, and brothers, Paul, Frank and Tommy.
