84, of Riverview, Florida (formerly of Toledo, OH) passed away June 11, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Merle and her oldest daughter, Cindy. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, fun loving grandmother/great grandmother and a loyal friend.
Gladys was born in Claysville, Pennsylvania on July 1, 1933. She met Merle while working at the Navy Dept. in Washington, D.C. and then married on August 1, 1951. After his honorable discharge from the USMC, they moved to Toledo, Ohio. Gladys worked as a secretary at Libby Owens Ford until the birth of her first daughter, became a devoted mother and a homemaker. Shortly after, three more daughters were added to complete their family and she became active in the PTA & Girl Scouts.
The family moved to Florida in July 1976. She was a member of the Riverview Garden Club for over 40 years where she served as president, for several terms. Gladys loved her flowers & plants and was gifted with a green thumb. She also belonged to two Red Hat Societies & two Bunco groups. She was a very active lady and loved being with all her friends. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crafts, cooking and baking, where she won many ribbons with her talented baking skills.
Gladys is survived by her loving daughters, Mary (Lee) Montgomery, Shelly (Doug) Stone, Missy Asp; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
A visitation for Gladys will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 15, 2018 at 7:00 PM, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
