John 3:15
Anthony Jackson was born May 24, 1941 in Perry, Georgia to the late William (Bill)Boddie and Alice Jackson-Thompson. He peacefully transitioned to be with his heavenly father on April 11, 2022 at the VA Hospice Center in Tampa, Florida.
He received his early and late education from Houston County in Perry, Georgia. After graduation he and a group of his friends moved to West Palm Beach Florida to work. Not long after moving there he joined the United States Air Force and served 20 years in various places around the world. He spent a great deal of years working at the Pentagon in Washington D.C.
Anthony (Tony) entered into Holy Matrimony to Annette Jones. In this union they had three daughters. Lynne, Melody, and Gail. He was a faithful husband, great brother, caring uncle, and devoted father and grandfather. He was known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren.
After retiring from the military he moved to Tampa, Florida. He went to school and received his Technical degree, but later decided that he would work for the United States Post Office and worked as a mail clerk for 28 years.
He enjoyed walking, and walked with a group at the mall before hours and they were know as the “Mall Walkers”. He also enjoyed family gatherings (reunions), traveling, playing cards with friends, and watching television shows and movies with his family. He believed in God, and enjoyed singing in the church choir at Victory AME. He served on the Trustee Board, Steward Board, Lay Organization, sung in the mass choir and male choir, a member of the Son of Allen, and served on the Finance Commission Team. In addition to this he devoted his time and energy in helping others in need by being a faithful giver to several different charities and organizations locally, nationally, and worldwide.
Anthony was preceded in death by both of his parents, his oldest daughter Lynne Jackson, his sister Mary Alice Whitson, and brother Nathaniel Dalton.
He is survived by his wife Annette and his two daughters Melody Jackson of Valrico, Florida, Gail Robertson (Kenneth husband) of Valrico, Florida, three grandchildren Erica Marks, Cameron Robertson, and Kendale Robertson. A brother Henry Dalton of Kathleen,Georgia, a uncle Leon Thompson (Nancy wife) of Warner Robins, Georgia, brother-in-law Bennie Jones (Delores wife) of Tampa, Florida, brother-in-law Paul Jones (Irene wife) of Baltimore, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members and friends that he loved.
