Passed away peacefully in Brampton Ontario on Thursday July/6/2023. Irene was 92 years young. Irene was one of nine children, born into the Lemire Clan and spent much of her life in Kirkland Lake. Many will remember her smiling face as the senior sales associate of Chez Marie Sportswear where she worked for many years. She was predeceased by her husbands Frank French (1994) and Robert Walker (2010).
Irene is survived by her children Michael (Dafen) of Brampton, Paul of Kirkland Lake, Lise Armitage (Robert) of Peterborough, Joanne of Cobourg, Laura of Kirkland Lake and Steven Devaney of Sechelt British Columbia. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Irene worked in retail her entire adult life and somehow raised 5 children, ran our household, mended our clothes, tended to our many cuts, bruises and broken bones and loved us all unconditionally. We wish to acknowledge the ever-present support from the massive Lemire family over the last few years. They were always there to assure us we were not alone and that we were doing the right thing in terms of mom’s care. We would also like to say a huge thank you to the staff of the Cumberland Neighbourhood at Sandalwood Village Nursing Home. Mom spent her last years at Sandalwood and the dedicated team there was dedicated, warm and caring at every moment.
Funeral services entrusted to Andrews Funeral Centre of Brampton, and internment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.andrewscommunityfuneralcentre.com for the Walker family.
