John Fales also drove the honeymoon car for his friends. That’s  him with his back turned helping Sandy get in. He was telling me that Elbert drove on the way there and was so excited that he managed to drive off the road into a ditch ,but was able to get out and keep going. The reason he let him drive was because he had showed up with scruffy looking shoes and my dad was trying to polish his shoes for him on the way! I wonder if their  girls had ever heard that?It was new to me. 

John and Elbert grew up together on Avenida DeMayo on Siesta Key. They met the girls when John went to LPN school after returning from the service 

I’m glad our parents didn’t completely lose touch with each other. And what a small world to find out my husband had been working with their son in law. I’m not sure how they figured that out! We never should have put it together. My dad says he taught Elbert to lay carpet and the four of them did some jobs together. I was amazed when I learned Sandy had layed  carpet on her own for awhile before going on in nursing. She was amazing. You can be proud of her for that work ethic to take care of her girls

That’s  the family I remember from our childhood 

Our family is sorry for the loss of your loved one. Sandy was a good nurse a good mother and a good friend. We have good memories from when our children were young together.
