Deaconess Ola Mae Cosby, also known as "Pee Wee" was born on October 19, 1943, to the late William and Beatrice Jefferson, Sr. of Sumter County South Carolina who proceeded her in death. Deaconess Cosby departed this life on April 22, 2024, at her home. She grew up in Mayesville, South Carolina. She attended Lee County Public School.
Deaconess Cosby had a Christ-like spirit about her. She never met a stranger and loved spending time with God, family, church members, and friends. She attended Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church of Bradenton, FL for over forty years. She was President of the Senior Usher Board and City-Wide Usher's Union, Sunday School Teacher, on Gethsemane's kitchen committee, faithful member of Gethsemane's Adult Choir as well as a Deaconess.
Deaconess Cosby wonderful memories will be cherished by her family, Tommy Cosby, Laurie-Cosby Persha, Mike (Mary) Cosby, Debbie Cosby all of Bradenton, Florida. Kenneth Cosby of Havelock, North Carolina. Seven grand and sixteen great-grandchildren. One sister Pauline Wilson of Washington, DC, Four brothers; James (Bessie) of New Haven CT, and William Melvin Jefferson of Sumter, SC, Two brothers who proceeded her in death: The late Alphonso (Viola) Jefferson, Mayesville, SC, and George (Linda) Jefferson of Bishopville, SC. Two aunts: Whelmina Titus of Mayesville, SC and Willie Mae Smith of New Haven, CT along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends with one special longtime friend and sister in Christ Ms. Ella Pressy.
A visitation for Ola will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203. Interment will take place immediately following funeral services at Manasota Memorial Park.
