Michael was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on February 2, 1957. He went to school at Imlay City High School in Michigan and then joined the United States Marine Corps in 1974. While serving in the Marine Corps, he attained the rank of Sergeant E-5. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Mast during his service.
After the Marine Corps, Michael eventually attended Macomb Community College in Michigan and attained an Associate’s Degree in General Business. He went on to become a mechanical designer and achieved the position of Materials Manager. He had the opportunity to travel the world implementing the machine operating systems for Extrude Hone.
While Michael lived most of his life in Michigan and Pennsylvania, he recently retired to Florida to enjoy the sunshine, Gulf Coast beaches and to make memories. He was passionate about family, entertaining, music, and golf. Michael enjoyed surrounding himself with friends and family and was often the life of the party. He was intelligent, strong, humorous, loving and generous.
Michael is survived by his children Lisa Donnelly of Orlando Florida, Michael “Mike” (and Kimberly) Donnelly Jr. of Manitowish Waters Wisconsin, Matthew (and Amanda) Donnelly of North Port Florida; his grandchildren Zoey, Tori, Nathan, Briannah, Jaxon, Grayson, Victoria; his great-grandchild Wyatt; his siblings Rosemary Davis, Sally (and Jose) Jimenez, John C. (and Susan) Donnelly Jr., Kathleen “Kathy” (and Edward) Behnke, Patricia “Patty” Donnelly, Jane (and Chuck) Bromley, along with many treasured nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents John and Lois Donnelly, his sister Susan Rivera, his brother-in-law Doug Davis, and his great-grandchild Willow.
The Military Honors and Committal Service will be held at the Florida National Cemetery on Tuesday the 18th, 2024 at 10:00am.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the youth golf outreach program First Tee at www.firsttee.org, in lieu of flowers or other gifts.
