She was born in Manatee County and spent most of her life in the area. She also spent a few years in Bristol, TN.
She worked as an LPN in Tennessee, before graduating from Manatee Community College with a degree in nursing. She worked at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for 24 years before retiring in 1996. She also worked at Heritage Park and The Springs in Bradenton.
She was a lifelong member of The Salvation Army Church and served faithfully in several capacities.
She played in the band until her health would not allow her to. She also lead The Home League (Women’s group) for many years. She was the youngest of “her crew” and spent many hours visiting them, grocery shopping, and taking them to appointments. She never met a stranger and always made new comers feel welcome. She was like a sister and second mother to many. Her passing will leave a hole in their hearts as well.
She leaves her daughters Teressa Rogers Ferguson of Sarasota and Tamara Rogers of Bradenton. Grandchildren Charles Green, Mathew Ferguson and Chanel Cotton. Great granddaughter Rae Green. Sister Suella Spittler and brother Denny Dennis both of California. Also, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
