Marie Ball, age 64, Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Mount Prospect, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Marie was born on July 22, 1956 in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba to the late Natividad Gutierrez and the late Andres Peon.
Marie arrived in Miami, Florida in October of 1962, ultimately choosing to relocate to Chicago, Illinois two years later. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Loyola University Chicago in 1979. Later in life, she went back to school to obtain her Master of Business Administration at Keller School of Management, DeVry University of Chicago.
During her many years spent in Chicago, Marie was an avid volunteer at local animal shelters, always helping and caring for those in need. She made several friends in the heath care field while working in the Chicagoland area, including Lutheran General Hospital, Highland Park Hospital and Active Health Management.
Marie’s love of the beach led her to move to Bradenton with her long-time life partner, Tom, four years ago. They often explored the local hiking trails and waterways kayaking together. Marie also enjoyed going to movies, reading books, and dining out with her family and friends.
Marie is survived by her loving partner Tom Macku of Bradenton, Florida, formerly Palatine, Illinois, and her two daughters Deborah Ball, and Susan Ball of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly Mount Prospect, Illinois. She also leaves behind her beloved Golden Retriever Charlie who was her world.
In keeping with Marie’s loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to donate life so that others may live it. Her final act of love was to give the gift of life through organ donation which saved four lives through LifeLink of Florida. Please consider becoming an organ donor in honor of Marie.
She was preceded in death by her parents Andres Guillermo Peon and mother Natividad Emilia Gutierrez as well as her brother George Peon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marie's memory may be made to As Good as Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois, 518 S Route 31, Suite 178, McHenry, Illinois 60050.
