In loving memory of Charles (Charlie) Sanford Young who passed away on February 12, 2024 at the age of 90. Charlie’s life was filled with great achievements and many cherished moments. With an ever-witty sense of humor, Charlie had a remarkable ability to uplift spirits and bring joy to everyone around him through his clever jokes.
Charlie was born on June 13, 1933 and raised by his parents and many relatives in Bowling Green, Ohio. After being drafted in the army, Charlie was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany from 1954-56. Charlie returned to Ohio and graduated from Miami University (Oxford, OH) where he met his future wife Barbara (Laird) Young whom he was married to for 60 years until her passing in 2019.
Charlie began working for UPS in Ohio immediately after graduating from college and years later got promoted to the UPS (former) headquarters as national labor relations manager in Greenwich, Connecticut where he helped negotiate many contracts for the company. Charlie worked at UPS for 35 years and in 1991, Charlie retired and moved to Siesta Key, FL with his family. In retirement, Charlie embraced the joys of life, and the natural beauty and weather of the sunshine state while indulging in his passions for golf, tennis, boating, biking, and the serenity of the beach.
Charlie is survived by his daughter Nancy Brugler (Doug), his sons Michael and Christopher Young (Manuela), his 4 grandchildren Sofia and Amber Young, Christie Brugler and Katie Frost (Tad) and 2 great-grandchildren Ava and Charlotte Frost.
