I had the extreme pleasure and privilege of prosecuting a case that Bruce was the principal defense attorney in the late 1980’s. Let me just say that from my perspective Bruce restored my confidence and respect for the profession, or at least for the relatively  short period of my engagement with him. In 35 years as a career prosecutor I had never dealt with anyone, on either side of the courtroom, who so impressed me.  I write now as I hadn’t been aware of his passing but wish, should anybody read this,  of just how wonderful he was. God Bless his soul.

I am so sad to hear of Bruce’s passing.  Bruce and Margie were clients but we were also friends. I thoroughly enjoyed working with you in beautifying both of your homes but more importantly, all the conversations we had throughout the years. I was moved to tears after Bruce’s transplant and I was with you as my father was ready to pass. I won’t forget that.

Bruce and I began as young lawyers in Newark and often had mail delivered by mistake and we soon became friends and colleagues while I continued on the civil side of the law,  We worked together  on several matters and shared Temple services as well, He was always the consummate professional and I was proud to call him my friend.

As a rabbi, I knew Bruce across three New Jersey congregations. In addition to the accolades offered here of him in the legal world, I want to  acknowledge Bruce as a congregant-attorney who helped rabbis in times of difficulty. He did so out of sense of justice, compassion, and integrity. I will always be grateful to him. In addition, Bruce brought a keen interest, respect and humility to participating in synagogue life, particularly adult study. What a wonderful human being, what a mensch. With deepest condolences to his Margie, Jed, Geoffrey and families. 

Bruce was a wonderful man and great friend--He was a great confidant--a man of real character. He will be greatly missed.

Bruce was a dear friend, colleague, and all around mensch.  He was a gifted attorney who I had the good fortune of meeting and working with almost 50 years ago.  Our friendship remained over the years and I always enjoyed speaking with him and sharing stories and laughter. He faced grave health issues with strength and positivity…supported by Marjorie and the entire family whom he loved dearly and often spoke about.  He was an inspiration to both my wife, Kari, and I.  We will miss him but never forget him.

I am glad to have had some time to interact with Bruce going back to my teenage years visiting from Baltimore. I have fond memories of goofing off with Jed, Geoffrey, and other friends from camp Kennebec at the Goldstein home. Bruce seemed to always get a kick out of seeing Jed and Geoffrey act completely ridiculous with their friends. I recall with laughter many intentionally inappropriate remarks at one particular camp reunion at the Goldstein home that were shouted at a high volume by Jed (and those inspired by Jed's behavior) and how the whole situation seemed to genuinely please Bruce. Based on my recollection of Bruce's frequent smiles and laughter, I am confident that he knew he was so fortunate to have such a loving family and circle of friends. All the best to the entire extended Goldstein family. Love from me, Kim, Alice, Henry, Bob, Carol, Ellen and Joe.

Margie, Jed, Geoff and your family, I am so sorry for Bruce's passing. As you know, Bruce played a critical role in my joining our firm and he became a fast and treasured friend and partner.  You know better than I how special a person he was and how BIG his heart was for family and friends. I treasure my memories of our times together. I send you all my love and prayers for Bruce. i loved Bruce as did my father.  He was a caring human being and a superb lawyer.  I regret not being able to say goodbye for his final journey as I am in Atlanta for a family funeral.

Bruce leaves a professional legacy that few can match but to which we all aspire.  He was the consummate lawyer-- talented, fair, and passionate, but always acting with integrity and compassion.  His statute in the NJ Bar was legendary; his presence and guidance will be greatly missed.   My deepest sympathies to his family, close friends, and all of us who learned by his side. 

A remarkable man.  A life well lived.  Bruce recruited me to come work at the US Attorney’s Office and changed the course of my professional life.  His enthusiasm and dedication were contagious, and he had a similar influence on the lives of many.  He remained a friend over the years, and I thanked him many times for his impact on my life.   It was an honor to have known him and to have served with him.    May his memory be a blessing.


My deepest condolences to Bruce's wife and family. He was a great attorney and very good man.  He was a mentor to all young lawyers who joined the US Attorney's Office in the early 70s, when I was there. He had a tremendous impact in making the NJ office into one of the finest and most successful prosecutorial offices in the country. He will be sorely missed! May his memory be a blessing.
