Jake was born in Boyertown to the late Jacob E. and Oneida (Reppert) Hartline. He was a 1949 graduate of Boyertown High School where he played baseball and was captain of the basketball team.
Jake was widely known for his 39 years as a State Farm Agent in Boyertown; in addition, he previously worked at The Boyertown Inn, The Boyertown Casket Company, Albright Knitting, and Fred Fisher Atlantic.
He was an avid sports fan, particularly basketball and baseball. He was also a member of the Boyertown Optimist Club for almost 50 years. Jake also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and trips to the casino. Additionally, Jake loved spending time traveling with his wife, especially to Stone Harbor where he hosted weeklong family vacations for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his brother: James L. Hartline.
Survivors include his children: Michael A. Hartline (Joanne), Cindy R. Hartman (late Harold "Harv"), Bradley J. Hartline (Stephanie), Eric T. Hartline (Mary); grandchildren: Joshua Hartline, Jed Hartline, Jordan Hartline, Andrea Cronin, Emily Craft, Alex Hartline, Jake Hartline, Owen Hartline; great-grandchildren: Teryn Hartline, Trey Hartline, Shayne Hartline, Brittany Hartline, Brinley Hartline, Trystan Hartline, Peyton Hartline, Julia Cronin, and Lucy Craft.
Friends and family are invited to call between 5 and 7 PM on Wednesday June 26 at Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown PA 19512.
A Celebration of Life for Jake will be held on Sunday September 29 from 12pm to 3pm at the Boyertown Orioles.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Jacob's honor to either. The American Cancer Society or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
