This is John's sister, Becky,  writing for the family on this sad anniversary.  The photo I selected is a collection of snaps I shot off one random morning in HHI, South Carolina when we were just hanging out,  laughing,  enjoying the day and each other's company. Please remember him today, and every day like this, in a specific and totally perfect to your relationship way.

We know we're all sad, but honoring John requires us to find resilience to push past this pain. So, anytime you wanna drop in on him, you can just swing on down to HHI yourself. We did a burial at sea on his birthday this year just off the Coast, and you know that social butterfly has surrounded the entire island by now so you can find him anywhere and everywhere you turn!

John was my financial advisor but more importantly, my friend.
He would always spend the extra time on the phone with me. 
We would always laugh and go on tangents talking about  everything but investments.
I'm in shock and i will deerly miss him.
No one will take his place.

To the loving family,

Although we have never met,  I've known John since he joined the Arlington Optimist Club.  He was a kind person, loving life and friends.

I pray for grace and healing for the family during this difficult time.  May you carry the love and memories of John in your heart.......that is the kind of comfort that keeps him alive in spirit.

John was my neighbor, my friend, my trusted advisor, and one of the most interesting people I have ever known.   He brought joy and enthusiasm to every conversation and inspired me to live well and to share my good fortune with those I love.   His memory wil continue to be an inspiration.

What a great guy!  John never changed over the years. I had the pleasure of seeing him at our high school reunion last fall and he was just the same as I remembered him. He truly loved his best buds!!!   He was a lifelong friend to so many.  He will be missed  so much. . I am praying for his family. I know is in Heaven watching over us all. 

Rest in peace John. You knew how to live life and boy do I regret not taking more time - more time on our calls, longer visits, and going on one of the many fun trips you invited me on. I was blessed to be his neighbor and even more blessed to have him as a friend for life there after. There aren’t many people like John - he was a good guy, always a gentleman, and he loved to laugh. His laugh was contagious! My condolences for his family and for everyone that knew John - because his passing is a loss for every person whose path he has crossed. I miss him dearly.

Heaven gained another angel when John was called home.  His smile and his laugh was so infectious.  John certainly lived life to the fullest.

Until we meet again.

John had been my financial advisor and Morgan Stanley fund manager for over five years, and we had spoken on the phone a scant two weeks before his untimely passing.  We agreed we would talk again after the mid-term elections, which he predicted would give the market a little boost. 

My original question to him probably could have been met more efficiently on his end with an emailed response. Still, he called to chat, because that's who he was. We wound up talking for almost an hour about, well, all kinds of things. Moreover, we laughed, hard -- sharing stories and examples of things related to the conversation.  When I said, "Well, I should let you go... I'm sure you have other pressing things to do today!" He said, "No -- this is why I'm here. " He always made you feel like you were the most important person he would be talking to that day, even when I knew my account had to be relatively small potatoes compared to the high-rollers in his midst. 

Two days before the note on my calendar said, "Touch base with John F. " I received the letter from Morgan Stanley  with the notification of his passing, I was stunned. I literally gasped and dropped the page, as if I could back away from the awful news. 

I decided to get a little air and took my dog for a walk. When  I ran into a neighbor who looked at me and said, "Are you okay?" I replied, "No. I just found out that a friend died.  We had just spoken, and were supposed to talk again later this week. I'm kind of in shock..."  That was how I had come to think of John -- not as "a Morgan Stanley account manger," but as a friend who happened to also advise me on financial matters.  

I know all of us here will miss his friendship,  that baritone voice, sense of humor, and hearty laugh.  I extend my deepest condolences to his family and others closest to him.  Rest in peace, friend. 

It is difficult to think that John Farina is no longer here.  He was "larger than life" type of personality.  He was always positive and always optimistic.  He made use of his short time here as he lived his life to its fullest.  I know he is making heaven even brighter.  John will be deeply, deeply missed.  My deepest sympathy to his family. My sincerest condolences to the family.  May John Rest In Peace.  He was always kind to everyone when I knew him back in high school.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.
