You were a really great grandfather too me and my sister. You were always there for me my mom and dad and sister. Always helping us. And thank you for having the name Jess Maness because I’m named after all the Jess Maness. I will have the Jess Maness still go on in our family.

So many years have passed since I worked with Jess.  But now that I have learned about his passing, wonderful memories rush in of how kind and caring he was to all. Even when up set he was always the professional because he was gentleman first and foremost.  Rest in peace Mr. Maness.

Jesse and I worked together for many years at DIS.  He was always fair, fun, caring, and a little bit irreverent.  I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Ono of the signs of a great man is a great family ! Jesse was not only that, he touched all of us that he encountered with his goodness, honesty, and solid leadership, and so loyal and loving to his family and friends.I so wish I could have been with you all to celebrate his life yesterday. In 1968 I had the opportunity to spend five special days together in SE Asia that changed my life! Each and every day I think and privately smile at what he taught me about life.He made me feel so good about myself, and what a time we had together! they say a  picture is worth a thousand words.   when i see the wonderful photo of jess that accompanies this guest book, it captures for me the essence and spirit of who he truly was . . . that twinkle in his eye and his mischievous little grin . . .  there was this happy, funny, wise guy little kid, always just under the surface, on the hunt for a little trouble and a lot of laughs.  no matter how hard your day at work was going, he was looking to make you laugh, too.   

and now, even in this saddest of times - i look at that photo and he can still make me smile.  

i was also lucky enough to see him on occasion, outside of work,  with his whole family.  he was sweet and tender, and quick acknowledge that they were the source of all good things in his life  - his strength, pride, happiness and joy.  

those who were lucky enough to have known him, share in your grief and sorrow, and remember the wonderful man that he was.

Jess was an inspiring DSS colleague who will be missed by many.  Prayers and sympathy.

He and I worked together at DIS in the old Washington Field Office during the early 80s, where the building was rickety and drafty, but the spirit of camaraderie and the bonds of friendship were strong. So sorry for your loss as well as for our family also Jean. Even  though we didn't talk often we new each other were there. I can remember when I was nine years old  you and Jess came home to Clydes  house and you all were driving a new 1958 car and I though that was just about the most wonderful car I had ever seen.. Our pray is for you to find comfort in knowing that Jess was a Christian and a  man among men.

I worked with Jess in the WDC office of DIS for many enjoyable years.  He was an exceptional person and my heart goes out to his family at this difficult time.

Jess was a wonderful man who always treated everyone he came in contact with with respect.  He had a caring soul and will be sorely missed.  Heaven has gained  with his passing, and we are all better for having known him.  My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Jess built a foundation for our family based on values, support, strength, and compassion. I grew up without knowing my biological father and when I married his daughter Gail in 1980 he took me into his family and showed me how to be a man, how to raise and care for a family. Today I carry with me the image of him sitting at the head of the holiday table, his family and friends gathered around as he raises a glass and says, "Isn't this Great!"
