Jerry "Soda" Barber

Jerry “Soda” Mark Barber of Bowie, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Jerry was born in Cheverly, Maryland on March 26, 1955, to the late Wilfred Allen "Wes" Barber, Sr. and Helen Louise "Weezie" Barber. Jerry is survived by his wife Jeana of 28 years, daughters Chrissy Anderson (Kenny) and Colleen Tracey (Billy), grandchildren Alanna, Kylie, Liara, Billy, Jocelyn, and Brooklyn, his brothers, Allen (Maureen), Robert Wright (Pam), sister Cheryl Posey (Vernon), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was the brother of the late Terry Barber and late Charlie Barber. Jerry graduated from Bowie High School in 1973 and was a faithful City of Bowie employee for 35 years. If you asked Soda he would tell you he was the ‘Bowie Legend.” He spent many hours on the Bowie softball fields, local restaurants, and always a smile on his face or a joke to tell. Some of his other favorite pastimes were watching sports, playing golf and basketball, going on vacations with his friends, enjoying the annual family vacation to Emerald Isle, weekend trips to OC and spending time with his grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday November 5, 2021 at 11am at Ascension Catholic Church, 12700 Lanham-Severn Road, Bowie, MD 20715. Following the mass, a celebration of his life will be held at the Old Bowie Town Grille, 8604 Chestnut Avenue, Bowie, Maryland 20715.
