Velma Edith Leopold

LEOPOLD, Velma Edith (Mitchell) 78, of Bourne, passed away on November 2, 2023, at her family’s residence in West Bridgewater after a brief illness. She was born to the late George and Yvonne Mitchell (Barbeau) in Wareham, MA on October 10, 1945. She was preceded in passing by her loving Husband Paul H. Leopold, Jr. earlier this year they shared 59 years of marriage together.

Velma grew up in Buzzards Bay where she attended Bourne High school. She worked for Estee Lauder as a Makeup Artist for many years. She also enjoyed Gardening, music, the beach and spending time with her family. Let’s not forget her nutcracker collection and how all the grandkids would get a new nutcracker every Christmas from her. She enjoyed painting and was especially proud of the slates she displayed in her gardens and around her yard. She did have her faith and enjoyed reading her bible.

She is survived by her daughter’s Dawn St Onge and her husband James of Yarmouth, MA and Tracy Leopold of West Bridgewater, MA, & her son’s; Brian Leopold and his wife Cindy of Carver, MA and Christopher and his wife Michelle Leopold of Sagamore, MA. Velma also leaves behind 4 grandchildren Jonathan St. Onge, Kathryn St. Onge, Grace Leopold and Frances Leopold.

Visitation will be held on Thursday November 9th from 10:30-12:30 pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne MA. A Funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA.
