Lawrence was born in Dedham on May 25, 1940, to the late Joseph and Lillian Scully (Hovila) and grew up locally. His family relocated to Wareham and had met Jean while spending time in Buzzards Bay. He chose to serve his country and joined the National Guard. He also worked for the Bourne school system for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his family and travelling, especially when visiting his family.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Jean A. (Hill) Scully, daughter Robin Perry and husband John of East Falmouth, son William Scully and wife Carolyn of Falmouth, brother David Scully and wife Mary of Colorado, sister Catherine Scully of Buzzards Bay, grandfather to Tiffany Kenney and husband Adam of Fall River, Ryan and Christopher Perry, both of East Falmouth, and great-grandfather to Nova Cerullo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceeded in death by his late sister Patricia Chismer.
A visitation with the family will be held on Monday, May 14, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home located at 40 MacArthur Boulevard in Bourne.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at 10:00am also in the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home.
Burial to follow in Oakland Grove Cemetery on Shore Road in Pocasset.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Lawrence’s memory can be made to the Diabetes Society.
