Crowley, John J. “Jack”, aged 83, of Bourne, Massachusetts, passed away on September 19th. Devoted husband of 58 years to his beloved wife Barbara (Cronin) Crowley. Father to Colleen Neutra, Patricia Crowley Wheeler, Brian Crowley and Kathleen Crowley Braga and her husband, Kenneth F. Braga, Jr. Loving and adored Papa to six grandchildren: Eliot, Kenneth, Gabrielle, Jack, Gavin and Gwenyth. Jack was born to James and Mary Crowley of Somerville and was the eldest of their seven children. Survived by his siblings Barbara Breen, Dennis Crowley and Edward Crowley. Predeceased by his brother James Crowley, his sister Joan Peeke and his brother Leo Crowley. Student and football player of Saint Clement School in Somerville. Former resident of Malden, Jack and Barbara lived the past 29 years in their beloved Gray Gables village of Bourne. Jack was a vital part of his community: an active member of the Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club and an esteemed member of its Board of Directors; an active member and former Treasurer of the Blinded Veterans of Cape Cod; and a Scottish Rite 32° Mason of the Cawnacome Sunshine Lodge in Bourne. A veteran of the United States Army, Jack loved to shoot, hunt, fish and cook, often devoting many of talents and much of his time to benefit others. Jack loved the sea and all she offered. He loved to teach boating and fishing. Jack could often be found singing off-key while he cooked for his family and friends with a broad smile on his face. He and his wife, Barbara, loved to dance and enjoyed many wonderful trips together. He loved his family, and he was deeply loved and cherished by his family and countless friends.
Jack spent his professional life at General Electric, where he distinguished himself as a member of the elite team known as Skunk Works which was comprised of select men and woman that developed and produced some of the most groundbreaking and sophisticated military aircraft ever built, up to and including the B2 Stealth Bomber.
The family wishes to thank the hospice care professionals at the McCarthy Care Center, the Providence VA hospital and the Elder Care Services of Cape Cod and the Islands.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory can be made to the Shriners Burn Hospital for Children https://donate.lovetotherescue.org and to the Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club, “Jack Crowley Memorial Scholarship Fund” to benefit a student enrolled at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Church 841 Shore Road Pocasset, MA. Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA.
