Gail Forni of West Yarmouth, and formerly of Bourne, passed away Wednesday September 27, 2023. Gail, the daughter of Annie McGowan Ladetto and John Ladetto, lived her entire life on Cape Cod and graduated from Bourne High School. Her life was characterized by love of family, laughter and quiet strength in the face of adversity.
Gail held many jobs during her life. She started as a school bus driver in the early 1970's and transported many children from Sagamore to elementary schools through Bourne High School. She worked in the Town Clerk's office in Bourne and served on the planning board to help bring beneficial community projects to Bourne residents. She finished her career by working in retail for Bradlee's in Falmouth and CVS in Plymouth.
She really loved to travel; especially on cruises and with her children. The Boston Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots were her passion. Gail was an avid sports, bingo, and knitting fanatic and founding member of the “Stitch and Bitch Club”. Her most fulfilling job was being a mom to seven children. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lit up when she talked about them and looked forward to their visits. Even when stiffness in her hands made it difficult to knit, she made sure each member of her family had their own Grammy-knit afghan. We will cherish those warm embraces from her every time we use them. From Gail we learned the value of a cup of coffee, conversation at the kitchen table, and finding joy in simple pleasures.
Gail is survived by her children and their spouses: Ernest Forni III and Sharon, John Forni, Anne Grady and Joe, Ellen Taylor and Scott, and Paul Forni and Danielle. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Forni Jr., son William Forni, daughter Mary Silvia, mother Annie Ladetto (McGowan), and brother John (Jack) Ladetto. She loves her 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be a visitation on Thursday October 5th from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA., Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, followed by a service at the National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
