Brenda L. Ellis

Monday morning, July 8, 2013.

She was a dedicated wife to Rev. Glenn Steven Ellis for 37 years, a

loving, first child to Joan and Bobby Buchanan (of Carlisle, MA and

Sagamore Beach) and AWESOME big sister to siblings; Buck Buchanan

(Tyngsboro, MA), Beth Buchanan-Tripp (Bourne, MA), Belinda Kaya

(Durham, NH), and Bonny Foley (Dedham, MA). Brenda was a caring aunt to

5 nieces and 4 nephews. She is survived by Steven's brother, Rex (Harmony, NC)

and many adoring cousins, aunts and uncles.

Brenda died peacefully, at home, by her husband's side, holding her sisters’

hands. She was loved and supported by family, friends and the hospice

angels. She had fought a long and brave battle against breast cancer.

(15 years). Brenda was a most gentle soul; quiet, kind, strong and

courageous. She had a deep and abiding faith in God that reflected in a

life of service to others.

Brenda grew up in the small town of Carlisle, Massachusetts and

graduated early from Concord-Carlisle High School in 1975. She moved to

live with her grandmother, Alpha Buchanan, in Kentucky where she met

her husband, Steven. They moved to Newton MA, then to Beacon Hill in

Boston. Brenda worked as a supervisor in photo lithography, at Lincoln

Laboratory, Hanscom Field, Bedford, MA. She was the Office

Administrator for The Boston Swedenborg Church and a volunteer Outreach

Coordinator, honored by Boston Clergy for her multi-faith work. She

co-owned and operated, Tarzana, a women’s accessory shop in Faneuil

Hall, and was a woman of many causes supporting The Battered Women’s

Center, and Habitat for Humanity.

Brenda, a long- time resident of Sagamore Beach, continued her giving

spirit locally volunteering for the Women’s Alliance and the Hoxie

Center Committee. She treasured family game nights, dabbled in

photography, gardening, and everything French. She loved poetry,

mermaids, seashells, antiquing and shopping.

A Celebration of life will be held Thursday, July 11 from 2-4PM, at her

home, at 276 Williston Road, Sagamore Beach, MA 02562. In celebration

of Brenda’s spirited style, bring, wear or create a fashionable hat!

Memorial donations may be made to Plymouth Cranberry Hospice or

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod.
