Alethia Margaret (Smith) Brown formerly of Marston Mills, passed away on Sunday, March 20 in Hingham, MA. She was 95 years old. For 60 years she was the beloved wife of the late Walter H. Brown. Born on September 22, 1926 in Trenton, New Jersey to Earl L. Smith, Sr. and Mary Ellen Ryan, she was a graduate of Princeton High School.
Known as Peg, she lived for many years in Princeton Junction, New Jersey and worked as a bookkeeper for Simcox Flowers owned by her sister and brother-in-law Dinah and Walter Simcox. Peg and her husband, known as Wally, spent their later years in Marston Mills and
were long-time members of the United Methodist Church in Osterville. Though it was not her birthplace, Peg considered Cape Cod her true home.
Peg is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Thomas Mancuso, M.D. of Hingham and her son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Margaret Brown formerly of Marston Mills. Peg doted on her grandchildren, Theresa Mancuso of New Bedford, Paul Mancuso of Dartmouth, Caitlyn Brown formerly of Marston Mills, Cody Brown of Glen Burnie, MD, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Peg demonstrated the model of a life well lived, caring for family, friends and her community. No services are currently planned, however, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
