Laverne Davis-Duncan

Loving mother of Susan Morton Hornig (Jerry), David E. Morton (Eileen), Patricia L. Roth (Doug), and Barbara J. Morton; loving grandmother of Jason Hornig, Lindsay Morton Gaiser (Drew), Callie Morton Nowicki (Nate), Tyler Morton (Alexandra), Matthew Roth, Troy Roth, Jordan Spinelli, and William Spinelli; loving great-grandmother of Asher, Charlotte, Hudson, and Beckett. LaVerne (Phillips) was born February 9, 1927 in Picher, OK, where she and her five brothers and sisters and three nephews, along with their mother Elizabeth, worked jobs, gardened, and raised a milk cow and chickens to survive WWII and the Great Depression.

As a girl, she played piano and organ for her church and at other celebrations, including Mickey Mantle's wedding. She spent most of her life in Boulder, Longmont, and Denver. She was preceded in death by husbands Gil Morton (father of her four children), Jay Davis, and Robert Duncan.

She enjoyed mountain road trips, and travel to China, New Zealand and the South Pacific islands. As an avid Buffs fan, she attended many seasons of University of Colorado football games with her sister, Mame Irwin, dressed in gold and black fan apparel and CU Buffalo hat.

Laverne will be forever remembered for her strong values, fierce independence, and unfailing love.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Denver Hospice. A celebration of her life will be held in late September or early October with updated information available through the Crist Mortuary website.
