John J. Konrad

On Saturday August 7, 2021 John Joseph Konrad, loving husband, father of seven children, grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at age 81 in Boulder, Colorado.

John was born on June 27, 1940 in Anaconda, Montana to John and Maria Konrad. He graduated from Anaconda Central High School and worked in the saw mill for the Kanduch family. John attended college at Montana State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (1963) and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (1965). He graduated as an officer in the Airforce and served four years as 1st Lt. Communications Officer at the air base in Sioux City, Iowa. It is there that he met Mary Janet Bousquet, his wife of 52 years. John and Janet settled in Boulder, Colorado where they raised four boys and three girls.

John had a passion for science and technology. He was employed by Ball Aerospace in Boulder and spent the majority of his career designing and implementing technologies that protected our civil servants, military personnel, and the general public. He also had a passion for his family and the outdoors. John was an avid snow skier and served on the National Ski Patrol at Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, MT. Being athletic, he ran multiple marathons and enjoyed mountain climbing. John loved to travel and he and his wife Janet traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Mexico, Tanzania, Alaska, Lake Powell and many other destinations. John was known for his humble nature, his sparkling brown eyes and his love for his family, especially his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his father John, mother Maria, and sister Margaret Boisseranc. He leaves behind his brother Karl Konrad and sister Mary Stallings. He will live on in the hearts of his wife Janet, sons Paul (Tracy), Charles (Laurel), Robert (Christine), Mike (Robin), and daughters Carey Groves, Christie (Brian) Kellner, and Jean (Wesley) Jones along with 14 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 27th, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder, Colorado.
