Ronald Edward McManamy Jr.

Ronald Edward Mcmanamy, Jr. (Ron), 58 of Kenmore, WA, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 15th, 2024 at home surrounded by family. Ron was born February 27th, 1966 in Huntington Park, California to Ronald and Shayleen (Morehouse) McManamy.

The McManamy family relocated to Battle Ground, WA in the winter of 1980. Ron attended and graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1984. Ron enlisted in the Army on August 8th, 1984 where he was a Tactical Satellite Communications Systems Operator stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany for 22 months. He performed on the Army track team with his main event being the javelin. He completed his peacetime appointment in May 1987.

Ron began his career in the Hazardous Waste Industry in 1987, starting as a Clean-up Technician. Ron was a quick learner and hard worker, rapidly gaining knowledge of waste chemicals, which allowed him to excel in the industry quickly. He joined CET in 1992 becoming the Transportation and Disposal Coordinator working primarily on Federal Environmental Protection Agency Contracts. In 1994 he and his family moved to the Seattle area where he continued advancing his career. In 1999 he joined EQM in the role of Program Manager, managing the same EPA contracts. With EQM he rose to the position of V.P. of Government Programs. Ron was highly regarded within the EPA world for his innate ability to manage people and projects. He always believed it was an honor to serve the response communities. He truly felt his successes came from the tremendously talented individuals who worked within his arena over the many years. Ron and Laurie Palmer were married on January 2nd, 2016. He has two sons, Ryan and Erron, and two stepsons, Ryan and Derek.

Ron had a deep passion for sports and fantasy leagues, particularly baseball. For many years he has been the guy to beat in his baseball fantasy league. He has been a baseball card collector and has thousands of baseball cards. In the past few years, he also became a coin collector and has many boxes of coins to show off.

Ron is survived by his wife, Laurie Palmer; their children, Ryan (Zoie) McManamy, Erron (Nicole) McManamy, Ryan (Brittney) Telin, and Derek (Jordan) Telin; his mother, Shayleen (Rick) Tippets; brothers, Doug (Jessica) McManamy, Sean (Andrea) McManamy; grandchildren, Rylee and Maverick Telin; father and mother-in-law, Donovan and Janice Palmer; sisters-in-law, Denise (Bob Scully) Palmer, Luanne (David) Briggs; brother-in-law, Brad (Lisa) Palmer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Ron Sr.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of Ron's family and friends who were able to visit during his last few weeks as well as the Fred Hutch/EvergreenHealth Cancer Center and the EvergreenHealth Hospice Team who supported Ron's care.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Ron on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 from 11AM - 3PM at 20 Corners Brewing (14148 NE 190th Street, #1, Woodinville, WA 98072). For those unable to attend in person, a streaming of the service will take place. Information for this will be released later.
