Barbara Jane Menz

Barbara J. Menz, 88, passed away in Bothell, WA on November 15, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Barbara was born to William D. (Del) and Mabel (Richardson) Frankum on July 19, 1935 in Elmore, MN, graduating from Washington High School in Brainerd, MN in 1953.

Barbara married Lauren E. Menz in Brainerd, MN, on May 24, 1954. They moved to Kirkland, WA in 1957, when Lauren started a long career with The Boeing Co. She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies over the years and they enjoyed over 55 years of marriage together, raising five children.

She is survived by her brother Arlo Frankum (Phyllis) of Brainerd, MN; her sister Jan Lewis (Vern) of Greenville, TX; sons Brad (Sherry) of Bothell, Bruce (Rexann) of Bremerton, Brian (Judie) of Bothell; daughters Jane Brewer (Mike) of Kirkland, Jill Shipps (John) of Bothell; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lauren, sister Marlene, brother Dennis, and her grandson Kevin. Barbara was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She could always be found in her sewing room working on her many projects for family and friends. Barbara was an active member of Rose Hill Presbyterian Church in Kirkland since 1959. Barbara enjoyed travelling and camping with her family and friends.

A public viewing memorial will be held at Lifetime Celebrations in Bothell, on December 1, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A private graveside service will take place at Abbey View Memorial Park in Brier, on December 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
