WHITE, Kevin Hagan In Boston, January 27, 2012, of Jamaica Plain, peacefully passed in his home after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife Kathryn Galvin of 55 years, brother: Terrence, sister: Maureen Mercier two sons: Chris and Mark and his wife Elizabeth, three daughters: Caitlin, Elizabeth "Beth", Patricia and Isaac Fine and 10 grandchildren. As the 51st Mayor of Boston 1968-1984 he became known as "The loner in love with the City." He will be remembered as an inspirational, courageous and dedicated leader, mayor and friend. A celebrated civil rights advocate and visionary leader for the City, it is through his efforts that Boston is the world-class city it truly is today. The family of Mayor Kevin Hagan White invites the public to attend the wake and funeral Mass for the former Mayor of Boston. The arrangements are as follows: The public wake will be held at the city-owned Parkman House at 33 Beacon Street, on Tuesday, January 31, from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass, which is also open to the public, will be co-celebrated by the Reverend John J. Unni and the Reverend J. Donald Monan, S.J. at Saint Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 18 Belvidere Street in Back Bay on Wednesday February 1, at 11:00am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mayor Kevin Hagan White Statue Preservation Committee, c/o Suite 718, One Design Center Place, Boston, MA 02210.
