Adam Paul Foy, age 35, of Lowell and formerly of Sherborn passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 3 after a recent diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. In past years, Adam was an avid licensed skydiver, downhill and cross-country skier, fisherman, backpacker and hiker. He loved skydiving at his favorite spot, JumpTown in Orange. He said that when skydiving through the air he felt a peaceful calmness and clarity of focus. He even managed to cajole his sister and mother to join him on a jump one summer.
His passion for fishing found him regularly casting from the shores of Farm Pond in Sherborn, Boston Harbor and Nantucket, chasing everything from sunfish to bluefish to striped bass. He also loved hiking and backpacking with family and friends out West, doing multi-day trips through the Wind River range and the Tetons in Wyoming, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, the Sierras in California, and Glacier National Park in Montana.
Adam was always enterprising even as a child: shoveling snow from the pathways and driveways of neighbors on the street where he lived and starting his own business as a DJ in high school. As “DJ Legends,” he provided the music and light show for many school dances and local events. He was a computer whiz and worked for several companies in the Boston area over the years. He was awarded The President’s Award early in his IT career at the Plymouth Rock Company.
He leaves behind his loving adopted family: father Douglas Foy of Boston; mother Leonie Luisi of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; sister Emily Drazen and brother-in-law Dan Drazen of Concord and three nieces.
Donations in Adam’s memory can be made to Silver Lining Mentoring, https://give.silverliningmentoring.org/give/357510/#!/donation/checkout, a Boston-based organization dedicated to the empowerment of youth in foster care.
Memorial arrangements are incomplete at this time.
