Monika Tanner, 51, of Boonville, MO passed away Friday, December 9, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Monika was born April 24, 1971 in Palm Springs, CA where her family would spend their winters. She grew up in Minnesota where she gained a loved for horses; she won several trophies and awards showing her horses. In 1988 she and her family moved to Boonville, MO where she finished out her senior year and graduated in 1989. She continued to show and train horses, competing against William Woods College in Fulton and Stephens College in Columbia. She no longer competed, but still loved to ride her horse, Willy. For the past 26 years she worked for USPS delivering for the Rural Routes around Columbia.
She is survived by two daughters, Hannah Lefler of Franklin, TN and Marley Lefler of Boonville; a sister, Ursula (Dan) Bedeaux of Jordan, MN; a brother, Anthony Tanner of Excelsior Springs, MO; her mother, Verena (James) McKinny of Boonville, five nieces, one nephew and a loving extended family. She is also survived by her beloved animals, Willy, Ozzie, Trouble, & Friday. She was preceded in death by her father, Bruno Tanner.
