Dorothy Lee Oakley, 86, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born January 20, 1929, to John and Modena Burcham Woodruff. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for about 50 years. She retired from The Landmark Assisted Living Center in 2011. She was a member of Osborne Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed church, the Caleluje Bible Class, working outside and spending time with her family.
A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. John Cagle and Bro. Cecil Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Oakley, Carpenter and Waters Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Sylvester) Jones; one sister, Jean Blassingame; two brothers, Cecil (Willa) Woodruff and Jack Woodruff; two grandchildren, Alyson (Myron) Estes and Jason (Tessia) Jones; five great-grandchildren, Brittany (Kevin) Kendrick, Coe Estes, Seth Estes, Kaylee Jones and Karman Jones; and one great-great-grandson, Brady Oakley Kendrick.
She was preceded on death by her husband, Smith Oakley; her parents; four sisters, Lillan Childers, Leon Emerson, Faye Brown and Louise Bain; two brothers, Homer Ray Woodruff and Rosco Woodruff; and two granddaughters, Ann Lenore Jones and Amanda Jones.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
