Vernon Michael Lopez Cezar, also known as “Vern.”
Forever in our memory, we are saddened by his passing on 9/28/2023. Vern, born august 19th 1977 to the loving hands of Merubi and Virgilio Cezar, in Nuremberg Germany. His birth followed shortly after the birth of his older brother, they were only a year apart. This played a significant role in their upbringing. Vern was the second born, out of three boys. He looked up to his older brother Vladimir Lopez Cezar, and had an outstanding bond with his younger brother, Patrick Cezar. Their bond could never be broken. He is survived by his daughter, Jazmine Cezar.
Vern was raised in Pittsburg, California. His loved ones dubbed him, “moon” in his adolescence, he created long lasting memories alongside lifelong friends. Vern and his brothers have fond memories of summers in Hawaii with extended family. He continued to carry his hometown dear to his heart, as it shaped the younger years of his life. He graduated Pittsburg high school in 1995. Opportunity was in the palm of his hand. He attended SDSU, and eventually would make home out of San Diego. He would go on to raise a daughter and create fond memories with friends and family.
Vern was the “funcle” he loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews. He was also deeply admired by his cousins, which he held dear to his heart. Vern exuberates confidence and knew how to have a good time, he was generous and welcoming. He lived a fun and fulfilling life, a full life that we can only hope to reach someday. He loved to take every opportunity and experience new things. He was an avid concert go-er, religiously attended baseball games, and enjoyed sports, playing or watching. Throughout the duration of his hospital stay, people traveled to be able to visit him. His light shined on the lives of so many. He shared laughs, drinks, stories and memories with those he met.
Vern loved to listen to music. His favorite genres ranged from reggae to country and everything in between. He enjoyed sitting outside, in the sunshine, listening to his favorite songs or chatting with a dear friend. He would play soothing tunes the ukulele, more specifically; over the rainbow.
The party will never be complete, without you, Vern. We will always pour you a glass, save you a seat, and live life to the fullest, as we keep you in our hearts forever. You will forever be missed. Go 49ers. Go giants. Warriors 4ever.
