Born in Milwaukee Wisconsin to Willard Fredrick Henoch and Faith Richards Henoch on July 7, 1934. Susan attended Milwaukee Downer Seminary, a small private girls school, (now The University of Milwaukee School) 1st thru 12th grade. She went on to Briar Cliff College Manor in New York for two years and then transferred to Northwestern University . While attending Northwestern University she met and married Emanuel Philipp "Bud" of Milwaukee, WI. where her three children were born. After relocating to Denver, CO, the marriage ended 14 years later.
Within one year she met her life long partner and love of her life for 48 years, Terrence Peter Quinn of West Springfield, MA. They knew that God had chosen them to be together as life partners and were married and later moved from Denver, CO to La Jolla, CA in 1985.
They visited San Diego First Assembly of God (now City View Church) and because of Pastor Richard Dresselhaus preaching and Doctor Tim Dresselhaus teaching in Expedition Sunday School class, Susan and Terry knew they had found their church home. In 1991 they became members of the church and were baptized and together they joyfully sank their roots deep in to their immovable anchor-Christ Jesus. There was not a place on campus where Susan was not active; Women's Ministry, Bible Study, Vacation Bible School (a favorite) she and Terry trained on the Teen Challenge Ladies Guild for 18 years and considered this time some of her most rewarding times. As a faithful server, Susan left an indelible mark on the church and in the lives whenever there was a need. This was clearly her gift and ministry from the Lord. Born with a natural ability to connect with people in any situation Susan was admired by many members of the church.
Together Susan and Terry experience many extraordinary trips world wide and both always said that gardening was one of their favorite hobbies. They were known for the exceptional beauty found in what they called their "Backyard Sanctuary" with humming birds and Oriole feeders and containers with an extravagant blooms of colors.
Susan is survived by her three children Mary Philipp Neiberg of Santa Fe, NM, Thomas Philipp and wife Wendy of Westfield, MA and Katherine Philipp of Denver, CO.
