Our beloved mother and grandmother, Melinda Davila Abalos, affectionately known as "Mama", died on September 27, 2024, in Chula Vista, CA, at the age of 67. Mama is now resting under the care of Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary.
Born on September 8, 1957,in Lopez Quezon Province of the Philippines. Mama's early years were spent in her cousin's home, where she forged precious memories that she cherished throughout her life.
For 41 beautiful years, she shared a profound bond with her soulmate, Camilo, who preceded her in death. Together, they created a loving sanctuary for their family, and Mama was the heat that beat within it. She dedicated herself to raising their three children---Cheryl (45), Paul (44), and Philippe (42)--- fostering a home filled with laughter, compassion, and unconditional love.
As a grandmother, Mama was a beacon of joy for her grandchildren: Camille (27), Ian (23), Jayden (16), Victoria (14), Charlene (14), Alexa (12), Chloe (10), Jacob (10), and Francesca (7). To them, she was not just a grandmother, she was their biggest cheerleader, their confidante, and their constant source of comfort. Mama took delight in spoiling them--- whether it was surprising them with shopping trips, cooking their favorite meals, or making every Christmas magical with her boundless love. Her culinary skills were legendary, with family favorites like dinguan, misua soup, kare kare with a lot of tripe and her famously delicious eggs and potatoes.
Mama's love extended beyond her family. Her devotion to her church was unwavering; she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, always sharing her wisdom with a simple mantra: "Just pray and give Jesus your problems." Her faith was a guiding light, offering strength and comfort to all who knew her.
The void left by her passing is irreplaceable. Mama's laughter, her nurturing spirit, and her incredible kindness touched countless lives. She will be profoundly missed, but her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone she cherished.
Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will forever guide us, and her love will remain etched in our hearts.
