Martha Garcia

Martha Rodriguez Garcia passed away peacefully on February 26, 2024 at the age of 70 surrounded by those closest to her. She was born in the town of Cerritos in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi. Her parents were Tereso Rodriguez and Juanita Guerrero. Martha lived in Cerritos until the age of 4. Her family moved to Tijuana, Baja California in 1956 where they lived for 9 years before making the move across the border to San Diego, CA in 1964. Martha attended Balboa Elementary School, Gompers Jr. High, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. During High School, she received vocational training as a telephone operator. Upon graduating from high school, she was hired by Pacific Bell where she worked as an operator for 2 years.

In 1975, Martha was married to Marco Antonio Garcia. Martha and Marco had two children, Marco Jr. and Elvia. Shortly after getting married, Martha joined Marco in San Antonio, Texas where Marco was attending Bible Seminary. In 1980, Marco and Martha’s journey took them to Pasadena, California where they lived and worked for 10 years in various church ministries in the greater Los Angeles area. In 1990, Martha and her family came home to San Diego and settled in National City. She continued to be a dedicated mother, wife, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend to those around her. Martha worked as a legal assistant for 15 years for the Law Offices of Milton J. Silverman, where she assisted in many high profile cases during her time there.

In 2007, Martha became a grandmother for the first time to Andres. A few years later she would become a grandmother again to Emilia then Alyssa, and finally to Ingrid. During her retirement years, Martha was at her happiest when she was around her family and especially her 4 grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her parents Tereso and Juanita Rodriguez. She is survived by her 2 children, Marco (Claudia) Garcia Jr. and Elvia (Omar) De los Reyes, and four grandchildren Andres, Emilia, Alyssa, and Ingrid. She is also survived by her 6 siblings, Elvia, Lilia, Teresa, Francisco, Antonio, and Guadalupe.

Some of Martha’s passions in life were gardening, watching Mexican cooking shows, and researching her ancestry. Martha leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and an unwavering faith in God. She valued family above all else, leaving behind many memories that will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Visitation for Martha will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Glen Abbey Mortuary's Magnolia Room. A Funeral Service will occur Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The Magnolia Room. A Committal Service will follow from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
