Mark was born on June 5, 1962 in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Ruth Long and Andy Long and grew up in San Diego, California.
Mark was raised with four siblings. He had three brothers, Kenneth, Scott and Steve; and one sister, Cissy. Mark was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings, sharing many life experiences over the years.
On June 1, 1983 Mark exchanged wedding vows with Dulce Cortina in Vacaville, California. Empathic and loyal, Mark was committed to making his new family happy.
Mark was blessed with three children, two sons, Andrew and Julian, and one daughter, Adriane. Mark worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs.
Fortunately, Mark enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Mark worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary worked as a heavy equipment operator and welder. Mark always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Mark was also an Army National Guard Veteran. He proudly served as a combat engineer.
Mark enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His accomplishments and pursuits throughout life included amateur boxing, motorcycle enthusiast, avid fisherman, fun loving father, skilled at funny sayings like "okie dokie", could sleep through an earthquake, was a world class snorer and was always there for the kids. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Mark passed away on February 4, 2011 at San Diego, California. Mark died of natural causes. He is survived by his parents Ruth and Andy Long; his brothers Scott and Steve; his sister Cissy; his sons Andrew and Julian; his daughter Adriane; his grandson Evan; granddaughter Nevaeh and his wife Dulce. Services were held at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel in Bonita, California. Mark was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Mark was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Mark leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Mr. Mark R. Long.
