Amancio "Mike" Mangosing Jr. was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Amancio will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Amancio was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the son of Amancio Mangosing Sr. and Noemi Sahagun Mangosing. Amancio grew up in San Diego, California. Raised with four siblings, he had three brothers, Andrew Paul Mangosing, Jesse John Mangosing and James Jay Mangosing (Deceased) and one sister Gladys Mangosing Alano. Amancio was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Amancio had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He attended Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, California. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Amancio worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Amancio was blessed with two children, one daughter, Amthyst Ileana Mangosing, and one son Mitchell Amancio Mangosing. and five step children. Another blessing for Amancio was the gift of one grandchild, Olivia Mangosing.
Amancio was an Army veteran. He was a Quartermaster in A.I.T. Fort Lee, Virginia, Charlie Airborne, Alaska, 82nd Airborne division Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Devens, MA. Through his hard work, he achieved the rank of E-7. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
Fortunately, Amancio enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Amancio worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was a great cook, and was employed by the Hotel Del Coronado. Amancio always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Amancio enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were cooking and to fish and crab with brother Andy, nephews Michael and Jason and cousins in Oak Harbor, WA. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Amancio passed away on July 16, 2016 at home in San Diego, California. Amancio fought a brave battle against cancer. He is survived by his Daughter, Amthyst Ileana Mangosing of Reno, NV, Son, Mitchell Amancio Mangosing of Sauget, IL, Sister, Gladys Mangosing Alano (Nestor) of Chula Vista, CA, Brother, Andrew Paul Mangosing (Chris) of Tacoma, WA, Brother, Jesse John Mangosing of San Diego, CA, Aunt, Juanita S. Prieto (Gil) of Northbrook, IL. Mr. Mangosing also leaves five stepchildren, four nephews and four nieces to cherish his memory. Mr. Mangosing was predeceased by his Father Amancio R. Mangosing Sr., his Mother Noemi S. Mangosing and his brother James Jay Mangosing. A Visitation was held at the Little Lodge At Glen Abbey, Bonita, California Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Funeral Service Little Chapel of the Roses Bonita, California Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Amancio was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Amancio was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Amancio leaves behind him the legacy of a loving family, life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Amancio "Mike" Mangosing Jr.
